All the different types - an overview
There are many types of signage all based on the need and the use. The top two questions when determining the correct signage are:
How long does it need to last? Temporary, Mid-Term or Long-Term
Is it for indoor or outdoor use?
There is overlap in the solutions depending on your answers. Here are the basic categories:
Exhibit & Display
This type of signage is all about portability. Complete exhibitor booth custom floor plans with modular walls, carpets, seating and structures to draw in the crowds. It’s also mid-term display that could be used for small events or at your location like a single retractable banner. Think portable display mid-to-long term - banner stands, signs stands, table throws, popup displays, outdoor displays and exhibit kits. They can be outdoor items like tents and feather flags. You might have seen some of OEX’s own display products attending a social in our furniture showroom.
Wayfinding & Facility Signage
If you have a building and people visiting it, this is something you might already have or need. This type of signage is used to help direct foot traffic - all the door, hallway and lobby signage that helps people find their way. This can also be parking lot and private street signage. It’s all customizable though generic options of many of the most common items are available. Do your visitors have a recurring question about locating something or finding their way to you? Look no further - this is where you’ll find the solution! Wayfinding signage can have a lot of positive impact on your visitors and their experience. It is definitely worth a planning conversation with your interior design team - OEX has a great one!
Event / Temporary Signs & Banners
You might need some of this now to display temporary hours or traffic patterns. Flexible banners of vinyl or mesh, rigid signs of foam core, PVC, aluminum, polystyrene, polyair, gatorboard, Jbond and large adhesive or magnet products are typical items in this category. Do you need a temporary vehicle sign? How about an A-frame sidewalk sign with full color printed inserts or yard signs with stakes? These are all temporary signage. That banner in the parade, the perforated large decal in the window……all available in small quantities and fully customized.
Building Signs, Billboards and Monuments
These are long-term structures and big investments to your brand. There are many different styles of building signage and restrictions based on your local municipalities. One option is a monument sign for the roadway, which is available with and without LED billboards. We love our LED sign and being able to get our fresh message out there! This category also includes those indoor signs for your lobby, like our OEX logo done in black and pin mounted to the brick accent wall.
Wraps and Long-Term Decals
Whether it is your logo, address and hours on the glass front door or a complete vehicle wrap, this is all about that long-term adhesive vinyl. This is where the install is more important than the product. A knowledgeable installer makes all the difference in the term life of your vehicle or window signage. We recently added to our delivery fleet and documented the process of application.
