Space Management for Cubicles
If your work area is a cubicle, you are most likely space-challenged and need tools to store your desk essentials that will maximize the space that you do have. There are lot of products on the market to help you do just that.
You could start by getting a shelf. It could be a shelf that sits on your desk, which would double the capacity for storing things because you can use both the shelf and the area underneath it, or it could be a shelf that hangs on your cubicle wall. You can put a lot of small items on the shelf - stapler, tape dispenser, sticky note holder, calculator, etc - that would eat up the surface area of your desk.
If you can talk your manager into it, the GridWorks system is awesome. The GridWorks system is on the more expensive side, but it is a customizable, modular system. It comes with the grid wall, a two-slot sorter, a binder bin, two letter-size trays and a 2-foot shelf. The components lock in place and can be moved anywhere you'd like them to be.
If you can't talk the boss into the GridWorks, you can get individual hanging components like trays, file pockets, dry erase boards, cork bars and even pencil cups.
