Fun Office Facts

If you're reading this blog, you probably work in an office and you've come here for my sage advice on a variety of topics or my latest product recommendation to make your workday easier.  Well today, instead of imparting my usual wisdom, I decided to share some fun/interesting facts relating to the office.

…The first pencil factory in the United States was built in New York City in 1861.

…You can remove permanent marker from a dry-erase board by writing over it with a dry-erase marker and then erasing it.

…No piece of dry paper can be folded more than 7 times in half.

…If you lay a strip of clear tape onto a file folder tab before applying the file folder label, the label will peel off easily when you want to reuse the folder.

…In 2022, a post on Twitter reported that over 2500 left-handed people are killed each year from using products made for right-handed people. (This was an interesting one, not a fun one.  Just wanted to clarify that. And it’s on X (formerly Twitter) so take it with a grain of salt.)

…Upper and lower case letters are named 'upper' and 'lower', because in the time when all original print had to be set in individual letters, the 'upper case' letters were stored in the case on top of the case that stored the smaller, 'lower case' letters.
