Masks: 100% Cotton is 100% the Best
by Alex Plachta
As with everyone else this year, I have had to wear a lot of face masks. I would imagine most people have a sizable collection of masks at this point with a few favorites. All my favorites are 100% cotton. I find that they are less irritating and more breathable than polyester or the disposable masks. I have also tried all sorts of cotton/polyester blends (50/50, 70/30, etc.) and they are simply not as good as 100% cotton.
At OEX, we have been designing and producing custom face masks for ourselves and customers. Regardless of the material, the feedback has been very positive to have a custom branded mask. Employees seem to appreciate them and companies love the additional logo promotion and professionalism. We had 50 made for our team at OEX and this is how they look—they are 100% cotton and pretty comfy!
Masks also make a great giveaway as they are something almost everyone will use, and they are available in a wide price range. In larger quantities, the polyester options will be cheaper and have more full color choices so they are something to consider if you are giving away 500+ to the public. They look great and will be wearable for smaller periods of time. If you are buying a smaller quantity and you want them to be worn all day I would highly recommend paying a bit more and going for cotton.
To go an extra step: if your team is working outside, I would recommend a 3-layer cotton mask and if they are primarily indoors (or once it starts getting warm) I would recommend 2-layer cotton (though check with CDC guidelines to make sure of compliancy).
I really hope this blog will become totally irrelevant in a few months but for the time-being these are my thoughts on the different materials for masks.
Have a nice day!
