Unwind with Alone Time
Last month, we asked you to tell us how you like to unwind over the summer months. The majority of you chose to hang out outside, while the rest chose to go on vacation or spend some time by the pool. No matter how you choose to unwind after a long workday, it can be important to prioritize alone time. Here’s why alone time can benefit your current work/life balance.
Reduce Stress
Reduced stress is a great benefit that comes from some alone time. By spending around an hour or two relaxing by yourself, you should be able to focus on your own needs rather than on social interaction or pleasing those around you. During your free time, consider unrolling your yoga mat or spending some time getting lost in thought outside. Afterward, you’ll be able to return to your tasks feeling relaxed, renewed, and motivated.
Spend Time Reflecting
When there’s a lot going on at work, from big projects to impending deadlines, spending some time by yourself can offer you the opportunity to reflect and creatively problem solve. Consider spending some time in your favorite cozy spot with a journal or notebook, writing down your goals, challenges, and anything else you find inspiring.
Count Your Blessings
Life can sometimes be chaotic, especially during the summer months! Carve out some time to count your blessings, write down what you’re grateful for, and think about the important people in your life. The next time you’re spending some time alone, consider writing some thank you notes or making a list of loved ones you’d like to chat with on the phone. By spending some time acknowledging all the good in your life, it’s likely that you’ll find that the challenges don’t seem as daunting.
