Thought for the Day
I recently attended a banquet and the keynote speaker was telling a story. In the process of telling that story, he shared something that he had been told and it really struck me. You may have heard this quote before - as I did a little research on it to see who originally said it, there seems to be a couple different versions of it out there, attributed to different people. If you haven't heard it before, you'd better sit down first - it's pretty powerful.

Emergency Preparedness
If you are located anywhere in the eastern half of the United States, you got hit with some pretty nasty weather this week - high winds, tornadoes, snow storm, etc. Were you prepared? If you're like most people, the answer is probably no.
Regardless of whether you are an individual or a business, you need emergency supplies. Now, I'll bet that the first things that popped into your head when you read that last sentence were food, medicine, water, clothes and blankets. Those are definitely all items that should be in your emergency kits, but

Stacking Seating With Style!
When I say "stack chairs," do you think of the plain, plastic chairs with the hard, uncomfortable seats? If you said yes, you are not alone. The good news is that stack seating has come a long way. Now there are upholstered chairs, big and tall chairs, contemporary chairs, chairs with lumbar supports and chairs with contoured seats. You can get traditional styling, sleek contemporary styling or even what I call "industrial" styling. So you can have not only comfortable, affordable seating but also make a statement with style!
Problem Solver: Accufit Can Liners
On Monday I posted a blog that was a buying guide to can liners. Today I would like to introduce you to a specific kind of liner - AccuFit Can Liners. AccuFit liners are unique because they are sized to snugly fit your waste can. As you will see and hear in the video below, most can liners are very wasteful - they're too large for the container. Take a look:

New Product: Monitor Document Holder
This is an item that caught my eye when in January when I was reviewing some of the new products that we're carrying this year.
The Victor Monitor Document Holder attaches to the side of a flat panel monitor. I really like the idea of having a document holder that isn't taking up surface space on my desk, so I was geeked to try it out.

Sometimes when I watch TV commercials I get really depressed because I realize that I'm in the wrong business. Think about it - somebody got paid a LOT of money to come up with the finger with a face drawn on it (Ziploc sandwich bags).
Seriously?
Do you remember the product or just the commercial? Do you remember the name of the company that belongs to the slogan? Let's find out. Today's topic is:

Thought for the Day
Is the glass half empty or half full? This is an age old question that has a lot of answers.
The optimist says the glass is half full.
The pessimist says the glass is half empty.
End Tab Filing Must-Haves!
If you work in an office that uses an end tab filing system, you will appreciate today's topic - especially if you've ever run out of file folders and needed to make some new files. Instead of having to wait until your office manager or company purchasing agent processes your request for additional folders, you can make an end tab folder quickly and easily from any top tab pocket folder, pressboard folder or expanding file jacket you have in your office.

Did you know that the youngest commercially published author is Dorothy Straight, who wrote How the World Began in 1962, at age 4? It was published in 1964, by Pantheon Books.
And did you know that Dr. Seuss wrote Green Eggs and Ham after his editor dared him to write a book using fewer than 50 different words?

Fun With Scissors
My house is not beige. I am not decorating it so that somebody I sell it to years down the road will be happy - I am decorating it with what I like so that I will be happy while I live in it. And I like COLOR. (Having said that, my decorating kind of stalled and the house is a bit of a hodgepodge. One of these days I may finish..............)
What does all that have to do with scissors? Well, Fiskars and Westcott have some totally fun scissors to dress up your desk and make your day more fun when you use them. They're not your normal, boring, solid-colored scissors.
Buying Guide: Light Bulbs
We're all aware that the standard incandescent light bulb is now part of history. New regulations have obsoleted it in favor of new technology - brighter, more energy-efficient, longer-lasting bulbs. There are CFLs, LEDs and halogen bulbs to choose from now. All three have advantages and disadvantages and each type has uses that it is better for than the others. And now, instead of being measured in watts, we use lumens. Watts were a measure of power, whereas lumens are a measure of brightness.

When I was a kid, I didn't like my name and I often thought about changing it. I had a nickname (as many kids do) and went by that name with family and friends, but not in school. I sometimes dreamed of being a celebrity and what my new name would be. Which, if you follow my blogs, you know is leading me to today's topic:
