I don't know anyone who doesn't use sticky notes.  I have sticky notes at the office and at home - I'm sure you do too.  They're pretty much an essential part of life.  They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and lots of different colors - you can get squares, rectangles, flowers, hearts, stars, brights, pastels, etc.  Lots of fun options!

Creative Uses for Rulers

Every office needs a kitchen/breakroom -  a place for employees to relax and eat lunch, with essentials like a microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator, etc.  Creating the relaxing atmosphere is done in part by the furniture in the room.  Ask your self these questions:

• Are the tables in your breakroom large enough for multiple people (and conversations)?  
• Are there enough tables to accommodate everyone who may be on lunch at the same time?
• Are the chairs comfortable?

Today's world concentrates on success.  We teach our children that getting good grades is necessary to get into a good college and good grades in college are necessary to get a good job.  Work hard at that job and you'll get raises and promotions and you'll be successful and achieve the American Dream.  We like winners.  We can recite the winners of sports championship games like the Super Bowl, or World Series, TV show winners like American Idol, Survivor or Dancing with the Stars, or the Best Picture Oscar.  Theodore Roosevelt won the presidential election in 1904.   He was "successful."  Who did he defeat - do you know?  I didn't.  Does that mean the other candidate wasn't successful?

You're going to love this one!  I was surfing the 'net and ran across a post of unique and funny office supplies on a site called Computhink.com.  These are hilarious!  I just had to share them with you.  Check out some of these:

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals is a worldwide initiative to promote standard criteria for classifying chemicals according to their health, physical and environmental hazards.  It uses pictograms, hazard statements and the words "Danger" and "Warning" to communicate hazard information on product labels and safety data sheets in a logical and comprehensive way. Spring has sprung, trees and flowers are starting to bloom!  The grass is growing - and so are the sneezes, itches and watery eyes associated with allergies.  Pollen is actually present all year round, but it's much worse at this time of year.   You might have allergy meds on hand, along with lots of hand soap and facial tissues.

I recently bought a new car and it came with a trial subscription to OnStar and SiriusXM Radio.  I've always wanted OnStar, so the only decision there is which plan I'm going to subscribe to.  On the other hand, I'm not a channel changer on the radio - my radio basically stays on one station all the time - so the SiriusXM is one expense that I won't have after the trial is over.  I just don't need it.

Or so I thought.  

After looking at the station lineup, I discovered that they have comedy channels and country channels and a Broadway channel and pop stations and..and... and the list goes on!  I now have 11 - count them, 11 - presets on my radio. I am L O V I N G it!  They even have stations dedicated solely to a particular decade.  

One day I was listening to the 70's on 7 station, when one of my favorite songs from that era came on and I was singing it the rest of the day.  Just couldn't get it out of my head.  So guess what our topic is today?

One of my favorite desk accessories used to be my 3M Pop Up Tape Dispenser.  It's a tape dispenser that uses pre-cut strips of tape and when it came out I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.  It's a one-handed operation - no more holding the dispenser with one hand and tearing the tape with the other (all while trying to hold closed the item you're trying to tape).  All you had to do was pull the strip with one hand and the other hand could be holding the item you're taping. It made things faster and more efficient.  It even came in a handband version that was great for wrapping gifts.

So why isn't it my favorite anymore?  Because after a short while, I started having problems with the quality of the refills.  I'd pull a piece of tape out and the next one wouldn't pop up.  And when you opened it up to fix it, it was very difficult to separate the pieces of tape to feed the next one through the opening.  I thought it was just one bad refill, but it kept happening with each new pack I bought, so eventually I gave up trying.  I still loved the idea though.

How many times have you purchased an item and tried to take the label off of it, only to get frustrated when it won't come off all the way (or at all)?  AAARRGH!  I hate that!  It comes off in strips and you can't peel the rest of it off.  Or, if you do get it off, it leaves a bunch of gunk behind that never completely disappears. It's especially maddening when it's a piece of glassware.
